願いが叶う石や下呂温泉を大火から守った大杉伝説【森水無八幡神社】The legend of the wish-granting stone and the giant cedar tree that saved Gero Onsen from a great fire [Mori Mizunashi Hachiman Shrine]

下呂温泉の中心にある森の八幡神社【森水無八幡神社】。
大昔の下呂温泉を大火から守った大杉の伝説があるこの神社。
毎年2月14日は国重要無形民俗文化財の田の神祭が開催される。
本堂の右側にある稲荷神社には金毘羅様の願い石があります。
石を三回叩いてキーンと妙な音が鳴ればあなたの願いを叶えてくれる。

Mori no Hachiman Shrine [Mori Mizunashi Hachiman Shrine] is located in the heart of Gero Onsen.
This shrine has a legend about a giant cedar tree that protected Gero Onsen from a great fire in ancient times.
Every year on February 14th, the Tanokami Festival, a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, is held here.
To the right of the main hall is the Inari Shrine, which houses a wishing stone dedicated to Konpira-sama.
If you strike the stone three times and hear a strange high-pitched sound, your wish will be granted.
